The Magnificat

Readings for Tuesday December 22, 2009

First Reading: 1 Samuel 1:24-28
Responsorial Psalm: 1 Samuel 2:1
Gospel: Luke 1:46-56

Today let us take time to read and reflect on the words of Mary in the Magnificat. Let us reflect on God's strength and might; and His faithfulness to those who serve Him. One final thought, if the blessed Mother took time to recognize and praise Him, shouldn't we do the same?

And Mary Said:
"My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord;
my spirit rejoices in God my savior.
for he has looked upon his lowly servant.
From this day all generations will call me blessed:
the Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his Name.
He has mercy on those who fear him
in every generation.
He has shown the strength of his arm,
and has scattered the proud in their conceit.
He has cast down the mighty from their thrones
and has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.
He has come to the help of his servant Israel
for he remembered his promise of mercy,
the promise he made to our fathers,
to Abraham and his children for ever."

  1. This is an interesting Blog especially being a Catholic Church mass. It is the only church that has it's own crown jewls, golden or silver is used in it's churches, high rating members are driving around in limo's. They confess to be the only church of God, and a person should pray to it, confess a persons sin to as if they were God.

Jesus himself wanted subjects to call him brother but Catholic's call their ministers father.

I think that they should read their own sermon and follow it.

    God Bless..

  2. The Church does have some fine art and makes the churches of God as beautiful as possible, to honor God.
I have no idea where this guy got the "high rating members are driving around in limo's" baloney. Parish priests work hard and long hours in a thankless job, some priests take a vow of poverty when joining various orders. When he reads the Bible, he should remember the Catholic Church chose the Books to be included in the Bible, and they are not all to be taken literally.
